A chain leash is not a compromise between safety and style — it is the union of both. The Aurex Chain Leash in 304 stainless steel Cuban Link pattern was developed for dogs that simply chew through leather or nylon leashes. The electrically welded chain link withstands a pulling force of over 220 lbs (100 kg). The leather handle sits warm in the hand. The swivel carabiner prevents twisting. And the overall look is one you would not miss in a jewelry window — yet built for the toughest walk.

Material & Craftsmanship

The chain is made from 304 stainless steel (Cr18Ni9 alloy) — a chromium-nickel alloy with high corrosion resistance that retains its structure even under permanent moisture, rain, and intensive use. Each chain link is individually electrically welded (resistance welding) — no link can open or bend under load. The chain width of 12 mm and the Cuban Link profile — flat, interlocking oval links — distribute pulling forces evenly across the entire chain length.

The gold variant is finished with a galvanic gold plating (PVD coating, gold tone) — an electrolytic process in which a uniform, adhesive metal layer is applied to the stainless steel core. This coating is corrosion-resistant, more scratch-resistant than wet paint, and permanently color-stable. The silver variant is high-gloss polished raw stainless steel — brushed and without further coating, with a natural metallic sheen.

The leather handle (22 cm / 8.7 in length, 2.4 cm / 0.95 in width) is made from full-grain cowhide with contrast stitching and two brass rivets — removable via the connector system, allowing a handle swap without tools. The leather is tested for chromium(VI) and azo dyes under the REACH Regulation.

Hardware & Carabiner

The swivel snap carabiner is also made from 304 stainless steel and finished in the same surface as the chain — gold or silver. The 360° swivel mechanism prevents the chain from twisting during active dog movement — the chain stays flat and ordered no matter how much the dog moves. The carabiner spring is made from hardened steel and tested to over 50,000 opening cycles.

Safety & Quality

All metal parts are tested to a breaking load of over 220 lbs (100 kg) — sufficient for even the strongest breeds. The leather is nickel-free and tested for harmful substances to REACH Regulation standards. Technical Details

Care

Rinse the chain with clean water after contact with saltwater or dirt and polish with a dry microfiber cloth. Condition the leather handle occasionally with a pH-neutral leather balm on a beeswax base. Apply a drop of acid-free oil to the carabiner occasionally to maintain smooth operation. Do not use abrasive cleaning agents on the gold surface.
