Aurex Duo Leash — Full-Grain Leather, 360° Brass Swivel, Double Leash

Anyone who walks two dogs at once knows: the leash is the weakest link in the system. Tangles happen in seconds, pulling forces from two different directions distribute unpredictably, and standard nylon double leashes give the occasion no worthy framework. The Aurex Duo Leash was developed for exactly this moment — with a 360° brass swivel that makes tangling physically impossible, and full-grain leather that effortlessly absorbs the pulling forces of two active dogs.

Material & Craftsmanship

The handle and both leash strands are made from vegetable-tanned full-grain cowhide leather — continuous, with no connecting seams at stress points. Tanning with natural plant tannins makes the leather free of chromium(VI) compounds and compliant with the REACH Regulation. The characteristic contrast stitching in waxed polyester saddler's thread is executed in saddle stitch — on both sides, symmetrically, with even thread tension. This stitch is known from classic saddlery and does not fail if one stitch breaks — each stitch secures the next.

The soft loop-style leather handle is reinforced with an additional leather insert — the area that experiences the highest friction load during long walks is therefore twice as thick as the rest of the strand.

The 360° Swivel — The Core

The central connecting swivel with decorative scroll design is made from solid brass (CuZn37) and features a ball-bearing 360° rotation mechanism. This mechanism — known from fishing equipment and offshore sailing — allows a complete rotation of both leash strands against each other without the connection loosening or the pulling force diminishing. The result: both dogs can move freely and independently of each other — no tangling, no knots, no stopping to unravel the leash.

Safety & Quality

The leather is tested for chromium(VI), azo dyes, and formaldehyde. Both carabiner clasps in polished brass are tested to an individual breaking load of 176 lbs (80 kg) — sufficient for two dogs up to 66 lbs (30 kg) each, even under simultaneous strong pulling. The swivel is tested to 50,000 rotation cycles with no measurable material fatigue. The hand stitching is double-secured — if one stitch breaks, the next holds.

Care

Wipe down with a dry cloth after walks. Condition monthly with a pH-neutral leather balm on a beeswax base. Occasionally apply a drop of acid-free machine oil to the swivel to maintain smooth rotation over time. Do not polish the brass fittings — their patina is a quality characteristic. Do not machine wash.
