A bowl is an everyday object. But the way it looks sitting on a kitchen counter says something about the home it belongs to — and about the person who chose it. The Aurex Elevated Ceramic Bowl is formed from a single piece of stoneware — pedestal and bowl in one, no joints, no connections, no cavities. The fine vertical fluting relief on the outer body is not an applied detail — it is created during the throwing process on the potter's wheel, part of the material itself. And the raised position relieves your cat's spine at every meal — a benefit you cannot see, but will feel.

Material & Craftsmanship

The entire bowl — pedestal, body, and basin in one — is made from stoneware ceramic, fired at 1260 °C. This high-temperature firing process fully vitrifies the clay matrix and produces a water absorption rate of under 0.5% — making it physically impossible for bacteria, odors, or food residue to penetrate the material. For comparison: ordinary earthenware ceramic is fired at 1000–1100 °C and has a water absorption rate of up to 15%.

The glaze is a high-gloss reactive glaze on a feldspar base — chemically bonded to the stoneware during the firing process, not merely applied on top. This bond makes the glaze scratch-resistant, acid-resistant, and permanently dishwasher-safe. Tested to EN 12875 (European standard for food contact materials) and EU Regulation 10/2011 — free of lead, cadmium, barium, and all regulated heavy metals.

The characteristic vertical fluting relief on the outer body is created using the traditional pottery technique of fluting — the grooves are worked into the soft clay body before the bowl is dried and fired. They are therefore an integral part of the wall structure — not applied decoration that could peel away.

Ergonomics & Design

The one-piece pedestal raises the bowl to an ergonomically optimal feeding height — no separate stand, no connection points, no cavities where moisture and bacteria can accumulate. The elevated feeding position relieves the cervical spine and promotes a natural posture — particularly recommended for older cats, cats with arthritis, or those recovering from neck and shoulder surgery.

The wide, shallow bowl shape with a gently raised rim prevents Whisker Fatigue — the stress caused by constant whisker contact with the bowl wall — while also preventing spillage from enthusiastic eaters. The minimalist pastel design fits any interior, from a Scandinavian apartment to a classic country home.

Care

Dishwasher safe — top rack recommended for gentle cleaning. Do not use in the microwave. Allow to dry completely after cleaning. The high-gloss glaze requires no maintenance and does not lose its properties over time.
