Aurex Slow-Feeder Ceramic Bowl — Maze Structure & Wire Stand
Elegance begins at mealtime — and does not end with design.
Cats that eat too fast swallow air in the process — which can lead to vomiting, bloating, and long-term digestive problems. The Aurex Slow-Feeder Bowl solves this problem in a way no other bowl can: with an integrated maze structure made from stoneware ceramic that divides the food into several small sections and automatically slows every meal. At the same time, the bowl sits on an architectural wire stand made from powder-coated iron — an object you display, not hide.
Material & Craftsmanship
The bowl is made from stoneware ceramic, fired at 1260 °C — a high-temperature firing process that fully vitrifies the clay matrix and produces a water absorption rate of under 0.5%. No micropores where bacteria, odors, or food residue could penetrate. The feldspar-based reactive glaze is tested to EN 12875 (European standard for food contact materials) and EU Regulation 10/2011 — completely free of lead, cadmium, barium, and heavy metals. Scratch-resistant, dishwasher-safe, permanently hygienic.
The stand is made from powder-coated round iron (Ø 4 mm rod steel) — an electrostatic powder coating process in which epoxy-polyester powder is baked on at 180–200 °C. The result is a surface that is harder, more scratch-resistant, and more corrosion-resistant than any wet paint. The open cage construction of the stand is not just aesthetic — it allows complete air circulation beneath the bowl and prevents the mold growth that can occur with enclosed stands.
The Slow-Feeder Maze Structure
The ceramic labyrinth ridges (maze structure) integrated into the bowl divide the feeding surface into several separate food chambers. The cat must guide its tongue precisely between the ridges to reach the food — slowing the eating speed by up to 10 times. Veterinary studies show that slower eating reduces air intake during swallowing, prevents post-meal vomiting, improves the feeling of fullness, and increases mental stimulation. The ridges are made from the same stoneware as the bowl — smoothly glazed, with no sharp edges, no risk of injury to the cat's sensitive tongue.
Ergonomics & Design
The elevated position on the 10 cm wire stand brings the bowl rim to a height that places the cat's cervical spine in a natural position during eating — particularly recommended for older cats, cats with arthritis, or megaesophagus. The wide, shallow bowl shape prevents Whisker Fatigue — the stress caused by constant whisker contact with the bowl wall. The black-and-white color concept — matte white stoneware, matte black powder-coated iron — is timeless and fits any interior.

Care
Ceramic bowl is dishwasher safe — top rack recommended. Do not use in the microwave. Clean the iron stand dry — wipe with a damp cloth and dry immediately. Do not soak or place in the dishwasher, as standing water can attack the powder coating at the weld points.
